With Tuesday’s gubernatorial primary in his rear-view mirror, Jack Ciattarelli has hit the ground running in the hope of mounting a winning campaign in New Jersey. The GOP candidate who nearly toppled incumbent Phil Murphy in 2021 will get a second shot at the top job in Trenton; this time, he will take on US Representative Mikie Sherrill, as Murphy is term-limited. Ciattarelli believes he literally has one huge “Trump” card that can put him over the top in November. Appearing on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program, Ciattarelli explained why changing attitudes in New Jersey and his unwavering faith in the Trump agenda should spell the difference this time.
Ciattarelli discussed the possibility of President Trump stopping by the Garden State to stump with him with host Larry Mendte: “We haven’t worked out the details of that yet, but he certainly has offered to do so. When people say to me, why would you want to do that- why would I want to do that? He got 500,000 more votes than Phil Murphy did in 2021, he’s seven points better than Murphy in the polls right now, and again he’s on the right side of the issues. He’s done his part in securing the border; I’ve got to do my part in making sure New Jersey’s not a sanctuary state, nor will we have sanctuary cities. Those are two things [Mike Sherrill] supports.”
Ciattarelli also pointed to the mayhem of Memorial Day weekend on the Jersey shore as an example of what he intends to do differently: “If you’re sixteen years or older, we’re going to charge you as an adult if you do the kind of things that happened on our Jersey shore over Memorial Day weekend… there’s got to be a consequence for the kind of chaos we saw on our boardwalks.”
