Concha: Are The Media Around Solely To Prop Up Far-Left Causes?

Critics of the mainstream media have been pointing at a recent essay by National Public Radio Senior Business Editor Uri Berliner that shows media bias heavily in favor of far-left causes. Berliner’s essay suggests that all 87 members of the NPR editorial staff are registered Democrats. Some however say this is nothing new, declaring that it’s no secret that the outlet is openly promoting leftists causes and doing their part to actively get President Biden re-elected in November.

Count Fox contributor Joe Concha firmly in the latter camp. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to explain why the essay proves fairness in media is mostly shadows and illusion.

“The fact that it came from within, and somebody that’s been there for 25 years, that was the more shocking part,” Concha told Berman and Riedel. “You can’t spin that, right?... The question is now, should taxpayer dollars still go there, and will the media finally get the word that people really crave balance when it comes to reporting? I’m not talking about opinions, but balance. They just want the facts, and they don’t want everything spun in a way that helps Democrats and hurts Republicans, and that’s why trust in the media is at an all-time low and this piece perfectly illustrates why.”

However, Concha says anyone who expects change to come to NPR’s newsroom should stop waiting for the epiphany to happen. “Will NPR have a come-to-Jesus moment and actually start to hire some people that may not be ideologically all aligned? No, of course that’s not going to happen. Just like at Harvard, when they got rid of Claudine Gay, and then you see one poll done by the student newspaper there that showed 98% of the faculty considered themselves liberal. But they’re not going to start hiring other people any time soon because, why should they? I mean, it’s activism at this point, and activists have no time for differing opinions, and that’s all that people want, just honest debate, and you’re just not getting it at NPR.”
