Most Times Square Visitors Feel Safe Despite High-Profile Incidents

In a survey of 1,500 people, 83 percent said they felt safe visiting Times Square despite several high-profile crimes recently committed in the tourist hotspot. Len Berman and Michael Riedel talked with Tom Harris, President of the Times Square Alliance, for the full breakdown.

"We wanted to take the pulse of people visiting Times Square and were happily surprised with the survey numbers," Harris said. "83 percent of those who visited Times Square between February 10 and 19 said they felt safe despite the media's coverage of high-profile crimes in recent months. When broken down into demographics, 88% of international tourist's and 80% of domestic tourist's said they felt safe."

Harris credited Mayor Adams, the NYPD, and his team for keeping Times Square a tourist destination.
