Mets To Host Yankees On 20th Anniversary Of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

It's anybody's guess if the 2020 MLB season will begin or finish in full amid the coronavirus pandemic, but the league is reportedly looking ahead to the 2021 campaign and, notably, one day in particular.

Yesterday Newsday reported that the New York Mets will host the New York Yankees at Citi Field on September 11th of 2021—the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed thousands, destroyed the World Trade Center, and impacted families for decades.

It will mark the first time the two New York clubs will play each other on any September 11.

Can’t think of a more fitting day for those two teams to face each other because on that day of the year—all eyes are on New York.
