Giancarlo Stanton Could Miss Opening Day Due To Calf Strain

One day after we told you that they Yankees ace Luis Severino will miss the entire 2020 season with Tommy John Surgery comes more bad news.

The team announced yesterday that former NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton will be out some time with a calf strain and may not even be available for spring training and may not even be ready by opening day according to manager Aaron Boone.

But the good news is that Stanton—who suffered the injury doing work on the side on Tuesday—is just being handled with care as it could turn into a much longer-term issue if he’s rushed back into action.

And I think missing a few chilly April games may be the best thing for his tight muscles.
