Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that New York is spending an additional $40 million to ensure the state is ready for a potential outbreak of the coronavirus.
The money will be used to hire extra workers, secure equipment and other resources that could be sued to fight an outbreak.
"As we are seeing the novel coronavirus spread to new countries around the world, in New York we are continuing to take all necessary precautions to protect New Yorkers from this dangerous virus,” Cuomo said.
There have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in New York.
