Mayor De Blasio Announces Plan to End Homelessness

Mayor de Blasio has put forward a 6-point plan that he believes will end long-term street homelessness in New York City within five years.

“So here’s our promise: we will help every last person experiencing long-term homelessness off our streets and we will do more than we ever thought possible to bring them home,” de Blasio said in a statement.

The plan includes creating a Street Homelessness Joint Command Center which will quickly respond to anyone in need of help. There will also be 1,000 new Safe Haven beds and 1,000 new apartments for the homeless.
