Mayor Bill De Blasio Will Decide on Presidential Bid This Week

We’ll know soon whether Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to join the growing field of Democratic candidates running for president.

“I’ve been talking to my family. We will make a final decision this week and we’ll announce it this week,” de Blasio said.

De Blasio has been talking about a potential run for president for months. He’s already traveled to Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Mayor de Blasio rallied at Trump Tower on Monday in support of his Green New Deal, which is an effort to cut the greenhouse emissions of skyscrapers in New York City.

“Trump’s buildings in New York City produce as much greenhouse gases as 5,800 cars a year and we won’t allow him to go on like that,” de Blasio said.

During the rally, the mayor was frequently heckled and shouted over by supporters of President Trump. He also drew the ire of the president’s son, Eric Trump.

“The fact that the Mayor of a major city would attack an iconic organization (which employs thousands of hardworking New York taxpayers) for his own political gain is an abuse of power, unethical and simply counterintuitive,” Eric Trump tweeted.
