Cuomo Campaign Spends Big Money on Re-Election Push

Governor Andrew Cuomo opened up the democratic campaign purse strings and spent $16 million dollars since the beginning of July, according to recent filings at the Board of Elections.

Of that money, $8.5 million was spent in the past few weeks to combat the push by actress-turned-politician Cynthia Nixon.

Records show that the Cuomo campaign transferred $2.5 million to the state Democratic Committee to pay for ads promoting his running mate Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Candidate Letitia James, as well as his own re-election bid.

Cuomo has also spent large sums of money on ads bashing President Trump and his Republican cohorts to make sure his message dominates the radio and TV markets in the state.

An article in the New York Posts states Gov. Cuomo still has over $16 million dollars left in his campaign coffers thanks to big money contributions from philanthropist Agnes Gund and business titan John Catsimatides.

Cynthia Nixon, who has under half a million dollars on hand for her final push before the primary, has received most of her funds from small donors on social media.
