Plant-Based Lunches Coming To Local Schools

In an effort to make school lunches more nutritious 15 Brooklyn Schools will introduce "Meatless Mondays" at the beginning of spring. Mayor de Blasio said a plant-based diet is good for everyone and will help with the health of the planet.

The mayor made the dietary announcement at PS 1 in Brooklyn, a school that has a plant-based meal program every day of the week.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who was forced to change his diet after being diagnosed with diabetes, said proper nutrition can no longer be ignored.
