De Blasio: NYC Ready For Trump’s Visit

Mayor Bill de Blasio says the New York City Police Department will be ready when President Trump returns to the city next week.

Trump announced plans to visit New York on Twitter, but didn’t offer many specifics.  He said meetings are scheduled for next week and denied claims that his 17-day trip to Bedminster, New Jersey was a vacation.

“Look, the NYPD is the most expert police force on Earth in terms of handling visits by an American president. They do an outstanding job,” de Blasio said.

Since the inauguration, Trump has only returned to New York City once.  That happened back in May for an event at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

“We expected President Trump might be back a lot. He’s only been back once previously, and to his credit he kept the time here very limited and the disruption very limited. So hopefully that will be the same this time,” de Blasio said.
