Mets Fall 4-1 in St. Louis

Adam Wainwright stymied the Mets over six and two thirds inning allowing just one run on five hits while striking out seven. It was good enough to lead to the Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the Mets.

Zack Wheeler pitched well, but it was not enough for a win as he allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings. The bullpen didn't help much either, they surrendered two more runs which dug the Mets into a deeper hole. Rather then being down 2-1 after a Jay Bruce 7th inning home run, they trailed 4-1. Jose Reyes had a chance to tie the game with a home run in the ninth, but fell short and the Mets will look to take the series on Sunday afternoon.

Mets on Deck with Pete McCarthy kicks off coverage for the final Mets game before the All-star break at 1:05 om on Sunday.
