Steve Bannon Has Been Removed From National Security Council

President Trump has reorganized his National Security Council, removing chief strategist, Steven Bannon, in a shakeup Wednesday morning.

Additionally, Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert was downgraded to a lesser role, according to a Bloomberg Politics report.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster was given responsibility for setting the agenda of NSC meetings. McMaster was also authorized to delegate that authority to Bossert, according to the filing.

Under the move, National Intelligence Director Dan Coats and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford will be "regular attendees" of the committee.

Bannon's appointment to the National Security Council drew harsh criticism in Washington, as members of the council traditionally have military or law enforcement backgrounds.
