Major Heroin Bust on Long Island

Authorities are calling it one of the biggest heroin takedowns in Long Island history.

Thirty six people were taken into custody across Nassau and Suffolk counties after a nine-month investigation.  Three defendants are accused of supplying heroin to another group of individuals.

“One of the alleged resellers is currently seven months pregnant, while another serves as a volunteer firefighter.  One of the defendants currently works as a drug counselor,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

The drugs were allegedly stored at homes in Bay Shore, Farmingdale, Lindenhurst and West Babylon.  A number of guns and vehicles were recovered during the bust, along with drugs.

“This is the poison that fed the addiction of hundreds, or even thousands of our neighbors, friends and relatives,” Singas said.
