Gov. Hochul Announces Crackdown On Retail Theft

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a $45 million plan to address the problem of shoplifting around New York.

The funding includes $25 million to create a dedicated retail theft unit within the New York State Police. There will also be money for district attorneys, law enforcement and local business owners.

"This is an important fight to take on because the status quo, the lawlessness, the chaos that is going on in our stores, in our communities, all over the State of New York, it must stop," Hochul said.
