De Blasio: NYPD Won’t Break Up Thanksgiving Dinner

Mayor Bill de Blasio says the NYPD won’t strictly enforce the 10-person limit on indoor gatherings on Thanksgiving.

“When it comes down to individual families, we're not going to enforce on family gatherings. We will on bigger gatherings,” Mayor de Blasio said.

Governor Andrew Cuomo imposed the restrictions on indoor gatherings last week to combat an increasing number of coronavirus cases. But the mayor admits they can’t break up every family gathering that exceeds 10 people.

“When it comes down to the family level, our best effort is to educate people and know that most people will listen and most people will follow the guidance,” de Blasio said.
