Brooklyn Church Pays Off $4M In Medical Debt

A church in Brooklyn, New York has wiped out the medical debt for thousands of people in the area. The Concord Baptist Church of Christ paid $35-thousand to RIP Medical Debt, a nonprofit that forgives medical debt for pennies on the dollar. They were able to erase $4-million with their donation.

Reverend Gary V. Simpson says together church members and the nonprofit helped wipe out medical debt for 45-hundred people in the area. He explains, “This year we targeted medical debt because we wanted to show the need for affordable health care.”
