New York state and the city are implementing a plan to close schools if a student tests positive.
Impacted schools will be shut down for 24 hours while officials investigate who the student may have come in contact with.Mayor de Blasio said the city would work to limit closures.
“I think parents want to see the schools keep going so long as it's safe, want to see their kids getting educated,” Mayor de Blasio said. “And we do have a tremendous interest in avoiding the disruption of this city unless there's a very specific reason to act otherwise.”
