MTA Removes 300 Subway Cars From Service

Nearly 300 new subway cars have been pulled off the tracks because of problems with the doors.

On December 24th, a “C” train stopped and passengers had to be evacuated when a door opened. There was also a second incident on January 3rd.

I want to be clear that we acted here out of an abundance of caution,” NYC Transit President Andy Byford said.

He said passengers were never in any danger.

While an investigation continues, the new cars have been replaced with cars that are decades old.
