New Yorkers To Decide on Ranked Voting

It’s election day and here in the city a key issue is a ballot initiative.

A proposal would offer ranked voting, which would prevent the need for a runoff during primary races.

Voters would rank their top 5 candidates with a runoff then simulated based on the secondary choices if no candidate reaches the 40 percent threshold.

There’s also a race for Public Advocate, while Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is looking to keep his job for another term.
