NYPD Officer Shot in Harlem

A New York City police officer has been shot and injured during a confrontation with a suspect in Harlem on Wednesdaymorning.

Eight officers responded to a building at 2785 Frederick Douglass Boulevard after reports of a man harassing tenants. One of the cops encountered the suspect who was naked and was pointing a gun at the officer.

“A violent struggle immediately began and shots were fired,” Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

The officer then yelled for help and other officers opened fire.The suspect was shot several times and later died.The officer was also shot, but the bullet didn’t penetrate his bulletproof vest.

The officer is a 7-year veteran of the NYPD and his wife is also a police officer.
