NYC Students Join Global Climate Change Strike

Students will be walking out of school on Friday, calling for action on climate change

Thousands will gather in Foley Square at noon and then march to Battery Park for a rally.Mayor Bill de Blasio said they’ll be excused from class.

“I’ve never seen anything like this since the end of the 60’s and the beginning of the 70’s. This is the most impressive example of young people taking responsibility for their society and standing up and addressing a crisis,” Mayor de Blasio said.

The protest comes ahead of a U.N. climate summit and there will be matching rallies around the world. More than 2,000 climate strikes will take place in more than 100 countries around the world.
