New Yorkers Get Preview Of New Kosciuszko Bridge

New Yorkers will get their first look at the new Kosciuszko Bridge on Wednesday.

A walkway and bikeway is opening to pedestrians and bikers at noon, a day before the bridge opens to vehicular traffic. The bridge was completed on budget, and four years ahead of schedule.

“This bridge was supposed to take nine years. Nobody believed it could be done shorter than nine year. The bridge is done in five years,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said.

The new bridge has a total of nine lanes, compared to just six on the previous Kosciuszko Bridge. The lanes are also wider and the bridge will have less of an incline, meaning there will be less of a bottleneck because of slow driving trucks.
