New Jersey Woman Is Attacked By Her Son's Bully

A Passaic, New Jersey, woman is recovering after being attacked by the same bully who assaulted her son.

Victim Beronica Ruiz was hospitalized after being injured by an unidentified 13-year-old last week. The suspect allegedly jumped her 12-year-old son, and when Ruiz tried to intervene the bully turned on her, leaving her with a concussion and facial fractures, including a fractured eye socket.

Her one-year-old child was in a stroller Ruiz was pushing at the time, NJ.com reports.

The Ruiz family lawyer says the bully targeted the 12-year-old due to his Mexican heritage. Beronica was attacked after complaining to the school principal about the bullying.

The alleged student attacker is now suspended from school and charged with assault. Ruiz’s attorney said he plans to file suit against the Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy School Number 20 for not informing the Ruiz family about prior threats of violence against their son.
