Police Academy Instructor Transferred After Affair With Recruit

New York Police Academy Sergeant Michael Anderson, a man known as the "face of police training in the NYPD," has been transferred after being accused of having an extramarital affair with a recruit.

The name of the 26-year-old recruit was not released, but both she and Anderson remain on active duty.

When news of Anderson's transfer hit the grapevine, his colleagues started a petition to return him to the NYPD Academy.

Friends of the instructor flooded Change.org with positive feedback asking the powers that be to reconsider their decision.

"Sergeant Anderson was an asset to the NYPD Police academy," wrote one supporter.

Another weighed in with, "His ability to motivate recruits to better themselves is a trait that is unique and difficult to find. He led by example, expecting nothing but the best from himself and the people that he trained."

According to an article published in the New York Post, over 800 supportive comments have been uploaded to Change.org.
