Tappan Zee Bridge Demolished

The old Tappan Zee Bridge came down on Tuesday.

An explosion destroyed a portion of the bridge that connects Westchester and Rockland Counties over the Hudson River just before 11 a.m.  The bridge has been replaced by the Mario Cuomo Bridge.

The Tappan Zee was originally supposed to come down this past weekend, but that was postponed because of the weather.  Restaurants, bars and other establishments in the area are holding viewing parties to watch the bridge demolition.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area, as roads were closed because of the explosion.
