Residents Kill Suspect During Home Invasion

A 26-year-old unidentified man was killed early this morning when he was caught attempting to rob a house in St. Albans Queens. The thief was in the act of robbing the home when he was heard by a 16-year-old boy. The boy called the police to report the crime and then woke up his 27-year old brother to help him confront the crook.

When the thief was approached by the two men he became violent and allegedly attacked the brothers. The man and his younger brother hit the man over the head with a baseball bat and stabbed him in the torso.

Officers responding to the 911 call of a burglary in progress found the suspect unconscious on the floor of the home with trauma to the head and a stab wound. EMT's rushed the badly injured burglar to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbor Kim Satchell was quoted in the New York Post saying, "I've been here for 50 years, and this is the first that this has ever happened, I couldn't imagine that there was a home invasion." Family friend Regina McDonald who also lives on the block said, "It's strange." "Everybody on the block is working, middle-class people."

An NYPD source said the brothers were questioned at the 113th Precinct and they could not immediately say whether the brothers knew the intruder. No arrests have been made.
