George Vasquez was arrested at JFK airport over the weekend when he was caught attempting to smuggle a loaded handgun onto a flight to Georgia.
The Sig Sauer pistol was loaded with six rounds of ammunition and wrapped in a coat in Mr. Vasquez's carry-on bag.
Port Authority police arrested Mr. Vasquez and found that the gun was reported stolen in the state of Georgia in 2011.
Vasquez faces a charge of criminal weapon possession.
