Scaffolding Collapse in SoHo Injures 5

Five people are recovering from injuries after scaffolding collapsed in Lower Manhattan.

Wooden planks and metal bars came crashing down on Broadway and Prince Street just before noon yesterday.  All of the injuries are said to be minor.

“The exterior plywood panels acted as kind of a sail and it blew the shed over,” Deputy Fire Chief Chris Boyle said.

A wind advisory was in effect for much of the tri-state area yesterday.

The NYPD says things are back to normal on Monday morning, after the area was closed down because of the scaffolding collapse.
