Local Bomber Faces Life In Prison

The man known as the Chelsea Bomber, Ahmad Khan Rahimi was found guilty of building and detonating bombs in New York and New Jersey. 

Rahimi planted the bombs in the Chelsea section of Manhattan and in Seaside Park, New Jersey on September 17, 2016.  The bomb Rahimi planted in Seaside Park failed to injure anyone, but the Chelsea bomb injured several people and damaged many businesses on West 23rd Street.

Manhattan US Attorney Joon Kim called the guilty verdict a victory for New York City, a victory for America in its fight against terror, and a victory for all who believe in the cause of justice.

Rahimi, who immigrated from Afghanistan to Elizabeth, New Jersey at the age of 7 will be sentenced on January 18th.
