Statue of Liberty’s Lights Go Out

The Statue of Liberty went dark on Tuesday night, leading to all kinds of conspiracy theories.

Only the crown and the torch were lit, causing people to question whether Lady Liberty was taking the day off for the “Day Without A Woman” protest.  Women in New York City and across the country are skipping work today to show the impact they have in society.  Others wondered if it was a protest of President Trump’s travel ban.

Instead, the National Park Service said the outage was caused by work being done on an emergency generator.  Workers will determine the exact cause on Wednesday.
