Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that nine centers that planned to offer pre-k programs won’t be opened.  He’s also delayed the opening for 36 other centers.

“We expect a few of them to be delayed in their opening if we’re not satisfied by the situation in those sites,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

De Blasio said the large majority of the 1,100 sites will be open tomorrow.  Students scheduled to attend pre-k at the impacted sites will be reassigned.

“So I feel very confident that we’re going to start smoothly and strongly on Thursday,” de Blasio said.

More than 50,000 children will attend the pre-k program this year.
