Eight months after the Newtown shooting massacre, Sandy Hook Elementary School students began a new school year on Tuesday. The New York Daily News reports that students returned to the former Chalk Hill School that became their temporary home in January following the shooting.

Officials plan on tearing down Sandy Hook Elementary, the site of the school shooting that left 20 students and six faculty/staff dead. A new building will be built in its place and opened by the 2016 school year.
