Mayor Bill de Blasio finally put an end to the five year dispute between New York City and the teachers union, reports PIX11.

The teachers were given a contract that includes retroactive raises, some benefits, and other sporadic raises until 2018.

This was Mayor de Blasio's first labor agreement settled since he took office, and now there is hopeful speculation that the settlement will set a precedent for the negotiations of other union contracts, since there are 150 expired contracts currently in New York City.
