Specific charges not yet released, but Councilman Ruben Wills and a family member are reportedly under investigation for misappropriation of a $33,000 state grant.

The New York Daily News reports:

Willis and a relative, Jelani Mills, were charged by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office. The source wouldn’t say what Mills’ family relationship is to Wills, but said he worked for the councilman.

The specific charges against the councilman are unclear, but the arrest is believed to be tied to a 2012 probe first reported by the Daily News into a $33,000 state grant that was unaccounted for after it was dolled out to a nonprofit, New York 4 Life, that is tied to Wills.

Wills, a Democrat, was being processed Wednesday morning at the 112th precinct in Forest Hills and is expected to be arraigned later in the morning in Queens criminal court, the source said.
