As the weekend gets closer, and the LIRR strike becomes more and more likely, the MTA is trying to come up with alternate plans to help the 300,000 affected commuters get to where they need to be Monday morning.
So far, the MTA has plans for school buses to take passengers and stop at LIRR subway stops to drop people off. They also plan to open large parking lots so a park-and-ride system can be adopted. There is also a push to have employers allow their employees to work from home.
