Mayor Bloomberg's campaign against obesity is once again making headlines. Bloomberg, who has been heavily criticized for some of his past health initiatives, is now taking on elevators according to the New York Post. Bloomberg wants to introduce legislation that would force NYC buildings to undergo renovations to make it easier for people to use the stairs.

The bill allegedly would require that stairways have glass doors to make them more appealing. In addition, there would be signs outside elevators encouraging people to take the stairs. The NY Post reports that Council Speaker and mayoral candidate Christine Quinn has already endorsed the bill. During an announcement at The New School, Bloomberg said buildings need to make it more appealing to take the stairs. “What we’ve got to do is just make it cool, if you will, or the norm to exercise,” the mayor said.
