A man convicted of murder almost 25 years ago has been set free, after his conviction was overturned.
"I waited for this day to come, 24 and a half years for this nightmare to be over and this day is finally here," Jonathan Fleming said. "I dreamt about this many nights and I'm finally a free man."
Fleming claimed he was at Disney World in 1989 when Darryl Rush was killed in Brooklyn. He provided evidence proving he was in Orlando, but prosecutors argued he could have taken a plane back to New York. Fleming remained behind bars, even after an eyewitness recanted her testimony.
Fleming was finally released on Tuesday, after a receipt turned up proving that he was in Florida on the day of the shooting.
"I feel wonderful. I'm going to eat dinner with my mother and my family and I'm going to live the rest of my life," he said.
