Mayoral candidate and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio was arrested Wednesday after protesting the closure of Brooklyn's Long Island College Hospital. De Blasio and a number of other protestors were taken away in a police van after they refused to move off the sidewalk in front of SUNY Chancellor’s Office on West 42nd Street.
De Blasio has been criticized by some for using the protest as a way to gain attention for his mayoral campaign. De Blasio was on "The John Gambling Show" Thursday morning and he denied these accusations, arguing that he has defended hospitals in the past.
