It looks like repairs to the George Washington Bridge will cause significant delays to commuters for the foreseeable future. My Fox NY reports that Port Authority began the repairs to the upper deck of the GWB Monday and will continue to work evening and overnight hours on the upper level span until the end of the year.
Port Authority is replacing steel decks along with resurfacing the westbound upper level, upgrading the roadway drainage system, and rehabilitating the finger joints.
My Fox NY reports that all lower level lanes will be open and Port Authority will attempt to keep delays to no more than an hour while they alternate repairs between the westbound and eastbound lanes.
