The struggle to afford housing in New York City is being assessed and Mayor Bill de Blasio is coming up with a 10-year plan to create or preserve 200,000 affordable housing units in New York City, according to PIX11. De Blasio is expected to release his plan of action today.

A study done by New York University found that the median rent in NYC rose 11% between 2005 and 2012, while the median household income rose just 2%.
