It looks as though New York City's Citi Bike sharing program is serving another purpose not originally intended by the city. As reported by the New York Times and Gothamist, New Yorkers are starting to use Citi Bike's for spinning.
When the bikes are locked into the bike sharing stations, riders can sit on the bikes and still pedal the wheels free of charge. For now, Citi Bike's are serving as free spin classes for some New Yorkers. Will the city react to this growing new trend? We will have to wait and see.
Below are a couple Vine videos via Gothamist of New Yorkers spinning on Citi Bikes, as well as a YouTube video of some kids using the bikes at the sharing station.
